He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds a Masters of Science degree in Pain Research, Education and Policy from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and the American Board of Hospice Medical Directors. During an extended period of postgraduate medical training and practice in the USA, he also completed fellowships in international (Harvard University) and advanced (Veterans Affairs) Healthcare Simulation. He is Certified as a Health Care Simulation Educator by the American Society of Simulation in Healthcare. He practiced clinically in the northeast USA (Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island) prior to returning to his native Saudi Arabia in 2021. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications in the fields of Anesthesiology, Pain, Hospice and Palliative Medicine as well as Healthcare Simulation and Medical Education, and has served as a peer reviewer for medical journals
